Bounded batch processing
Bulk WebP Converter
Convert a folder-sized selection of WebP images without uploading the batch. WebpForge queues files and limits parallel work according to available CPU and memory signals instead of starting every conversion at once.
Choose JPG or PNG, cancel individual jobs, download results separately, or package completed outputs into one ZIP. A batch may have partial success: one damaged image does not discard files that converted correctly.

Re-encoding creates a new file without source metadata.
100% Private. Images are processed locally on your device with no uploads.
No paywalls. Unlimited file conversions with zero daily limits or account sign-ups.
Why the queue is deliberately bounded
Decoded images can occupy far more memory than their compressed files. A 6000 × 4000 RGBA image needs roughly 96 MB for one pixel buffer before encoder working memory and output are counted.
Starting 100 such jobs together can freeze or terminate a browser tab. WebpForge begins with a conservative worker count, loads each input only when a worker is ready, and reduces concurrency after memory-related failures.
Preparing a reliable batch
Group images that need the same output settings. Keep originals in their existing folder, inspect a few results before relying on a large batch, and clear completed files from the page when they are no longer needed.
- JPG batches use the selected background color for all transparent sources.
- ZIP creation briefly needs additional memory because completed outputs are packaged together.
- Clear all terminates workers and releases output references owned by the page.
Practical examples
- Situation
- Forty WebP photos need to enter a JPG-only archive.
- Setting
- JPG quality 88, dimensions Auto, then select all files once.
- Expected result
- Queued conversion with individual statuses and a final ZIP action.
- Situation
- One file in a batch is damaged.
- Setting
- Allow the queue to continue; remove or replace the failed row.
- Expected result
- Completed files remain downloadable as a partial success.

Frequently asked questions
How many WebP files can I convert at once?
This bulk page accepts up to 100 files. Very large dimensions may reduce what a particular phone or computer can process reliably.
Why are files not all converted simultaneously?
Unbounded parallel decoding can exhaust memory. A limited queue usually keeps the page responsive and produces a more reliable batch.
Can I stop one conversion?
Yes. Canceling an active row terminates its worker job without discarding other completed results.
Does ZIP download upload the outputs?
No. The ZIP is assembled in the browser from completed output blobs and then downloaded locally.
What does Clear all remove?
It cancels queued and active jobs, terminates the worker pool, revokes object URLs, and releases references to selected and converted files held by the page.
